Morocco to hold next Lanzarote Initiative Ministerial Meeting in 2010New York - The Lanzarote Initiative for Atlantic Cooperation will hold its next ministerial meeting in Morocco in 2010, announced, here Monday, Spanish Foreign Minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos.
The initiative was launched in the Spanish island of Lanzarote on June 12-13, 2009 during an informal ministerial meeting that brought together some 21 African, European and Latin American countries, bordering the Atlantic, including Morocco. It recognizes that the problems facing the world require a global response through cooperation in well-structured regional areas, Moratinos said at a press conference following the 2nd ministerial meeting of the initiative. Developing triangular cooperation, taking up challenges and facing various threats, such as drug trafficking, are the main objectives of the Lanzarote Initiative.
