New HCR-led family visit exchange benefits 12 families

Laayoune - Twelve Sahrawi families benefited, on Saturday, from a new family visit exchange operation, conducted under the auspices of the High Commissioner for Refugees (HCR).

Under this programme, family members living in the Moroccan southern provinces visit their relatives in the Tindouf camps, southwestern Algeria, and vice-versa.

This operation, the 4th in 2010, benefited sixty-five people. Thirty-three from six families flew from Laayoune to the camps, while thirty-two others from six families flew from these camps to the southern provinces, a press release of the Moroccan Coordination Office with the UN mission in the Sahara (MINURSO) said.

Since its launch in March 2004, the family visit exchange programme has benefited 9,884 people, including 5,079 from the Tindouf camps.
