Moroccan political parties take part in Libya's national festivities

Tripoli - A delegation representing some Moroccan parties participated on Monday in the city of Sebha (800 km south of Tripoli) in a meeting headed by Libya's leader, Mouammar Gaddafi, in the framework of Libyan national festivities.

    Libya has celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Free Unionists Movement and the 48th anniversary of the Unionist March led by Colonel Gaddafi in the city of Sebha to protest against the dissolution of the United Arab Republic.

    In a speech made on this occasion, Colonel Gaddafi shed light on the historical facts that led to the 1st September 1969 revolution.

    The Moroccan delegation was received by Libya's secretary for Foreign Affairs at the Libyan General People's Congress (CGP), Souleimane  Chahoumi, who underlined the need of Morocco's return to the African Union and the need for solutions in order to revitalize the regional grouping of the Arab Maghreb Union, which musters Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia.

    The Moroccan delegation shed light on the efforts made by Morocco to reopen borders and stressed the prospects offered by Morocco’s autonomy plan in the Sahara.

    The delegation is composed of Sāadedine El Othmani (Party of Justice and Development), Mohamed  Jouhari (the Popular Movement), Driss Lachgar (socialist Union for Popular Forces), Mohamed Aujjar (the National Rally of Independents) and Maalanaine Chibba (the Istiqlal Party).
