First Int'l symposium on security in Africa comes to close

Marrakes - The First international symposium on security in Africa came to close on Saturday in Marrakech.

    Participants at this events called for the creation of reflection centers in the field of security and geopolitics and to the strengthening of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

   Organized by the African Federation for Strategic Studies (FAES), the three-day meeting stressed the importance of cooperation among the different UN bodies in charge of anti-drug policies making and follow-up.

   Participants also called for developing further international cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism and the holding of an international summit on the issues of piracy, a major threat undermining security in the continent.

    With the participation of 150 experts from 60 countries, this symposium aimed at promoting the dialogue between the participated States and was an opportunity for the participants to discuss issues related to the multiple strategic and security challenges facing African countries.

       The symposium focused on several themes including "Security threats and vulnerabilities in Africa", "International terrorism and its impact on Africa", "Prevention and Conflict Management in Africa " and "The governance of the security sector in Africa".
