Moroccan youths at NASA space camp

Rabat - Several Moroccan youngsters, along with two teachers, will take part for the first time in the NASA space camp in the US from 1 to 6 August.

This is a totally new and rewarding experience for these twelve boys and girls, aged 15-17, who will travel to Huntsville, Alabama, to learn what it takes to be an astronaut.

"I am very happy to be one of the participants in this event. It is a dream coming true," said one of the youths at a reception held on Wednesday by the US embassy in Rabat.

Speaking at this event, US ambassador to Morocco Samuel Kaplan congratulated the young Moroccans chosen for this five-day stay, calling upon them to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their scientific knowledge.

Along with other young people from all over the world, the Moroccan space campers will be involved in simulated space shuttle missions, training simulators, rocket building and launches, scientific experiments, and lectures on the past, present, and future of space exploration.

This initiative seeks to reinforce scientific and technological exchanges between Morocco and the US.
