Moroccan victims of Algeria's arbitrary expulsion call for reparation

Nador - Victims of Algeria's arbitrary expulsion called, Saturday in the northern city of Nador, on the Algerian government to recognize their rights to moral and financial reparation.

The call was launched at a meeting entitled: "How to contribute to the establishment of the Maghreb of rights, peace and prosperity," by the association for the defense of Moroccan victims of Algeria's arbitrary expulsion (ADEMA-Morocco and Europe), on the eve of the 2nd Congress of Moroccans who used to live in Algeria, which kicks off Sunday.

The meeting aims to shed light on the suffering 45,000 people expulsed from Algeria, President of ADEMA-Morocco and Europe, Mohamed Herouachi told MAP.

Fatiha Saidi, a belgian MP, whose parents underwent this painful experience, said the meeting is an opportunity to raise Moroccan expatriates's awareness regarding the suffering endured in 1975 by their fellow-countrymen, and encourage them to act in favor of this just cause.

The Algerian government is called upon to recognize the right of expulsed Moroccans to moral and financial reparation and to open the borders for a rapprochement between the two peoples, Herouachi said.

Created in 2005 in Nador, ADEMA, had called upon the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, to set up an international commission to investigate the "crimes against humanity committed by Algerian officials" against these Moroccans.
