Morocco, Belgium sign agreement in water, agriculture fields

Rabat - Morocco and Belgium signed, Tuesday in Rabat, a 67-million Euro agreement in the fields of water and agriculture, at the end of the Moroccan-Belgian Joint Commission, held on November 23-24.

       Under this agreement, concluded as part of the Indicative Cooperation Program (2010-2013), Belgium will contribute around 33.5 million euros to develop a strategy benefiting the most vulnerable farmers mainly through encouraging higher productivity.

       In the field of water, the Moroccan-Belgian cooperation provides for the integrated management of water resources.

    The agreement was signed by Moroccan Foreign Minister, Taib Fassi Fihri, and Belgium's Minister for cooperation and development, Charles Michel.

        The two parties also signed the Minutes of the 18th session of the Joint Commission on Development Cooperation between Morocco and Belgium.
