INCB lauds Morocco's efforts to eradicate cannabis cultivation

Vienna - The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) lauded Morocco's efforts to eradicate the illicit cultivation of cannabis, highlighting a 55% decline of the total area of cultivation.

For the first time, Morocco was not listed in the INCB’s 2009 report as the world’s largest producer of cannabis resin, Morocco’s Embassy in Geneva said in a statement.

The same report underlined that the total area of cannabis cultivation in Morocco dropped from 134,000 hectares in 2003 to 60,000 in 2009, that is a 55% decline.

The INCB underlined that Morocco pursues efforts in the field of drug control, adding that the country fulfilled its obligations under international drug control treaties.
